Challah Misadventures

I decided recently that I wanted to bake challah for the upcoming holiday of Shavuot.  You know, because that is what Jewish women do.  Anyway, today was the day.  Naturally, I wanted to blog the process.  I will give the ending away now: I only ended up with one successful "challah," and even that one was not braided.

This is the first three ingredients mixed together: water, yeast, and sugar.

I tried to braid it, and it just kept sticking to my hands.  I gave up.  Here are two "challah lumps."

One successful challah, and one fail.  The fail is a fail because it stuck to the parchment paper and tin foil; in trying to get it off, I ripped into it.  Challah can only be used if it's a full loaf of bread.

 

Anyway.  I had fun, and that is the important thing.  And I will definitely be trying this again.
